VII - i, Baltimore's TTBB Chamber Singers, is an auditioned ensemble of lower voices brought together through friendship and a shared love of close harmony. Born in 2023 from a reimagined Beethoven's 9th and a musty basement near Station North, the group brings together music teachers, conservatory-trained musicians, church singers, and unrepentant choir nerds and theory enthusiasts.
Our repertoire spans centuries, cultures, and traditions – from Renaissance polyphony and sacred works old and new to folk, barbershop, contemporary choral music, and music beyond the traditional canon. Devoted as much to one another as to the music, we take the music seriously; ourselves, not so much.
Technically masterful, emotionally alive music – sung with blend, clarity, and deep intention.
We show up as full people, not just voices. Kindness over ego, presence over perfection, and a space where everyone belongs.

A spring program exploring and celebrating where we come from, and how our beginnings shape who we become. Through sacred and secular choral works – from creation stories to songs of tradition and memory – the ensemble traces the many roots of human identity.
Join VII - i and our local Baltimore partners for our inaugural community sing! We are so excited to launch this musical celebration centering adults with disabilities and welcoming our neighbors of every ability. The event opens with a short concert from VII - i and then moves into an intertwined community sing-along – favorites to belt with loved ones (with lyrics and music to follow) – alongside space for pre-chosen attendees to share a wonderful talent or passion. An open, joyful space where everyone is welcome to sing and move and be however feels right.

Jordan Hoffmaster is VII - i's Music Director, shaping the ensemble's sound, repertoire, and artistic direction from the podium.
Stina founded VII - i in 2023 out of a lifelong love of early music and lower-voice harmony. She has been singing since before she could talk, and choral music has been lifesaving and the joy of her life. She sang with the Pennsylvania Girlchoir as a founding member, the Chamber Singers at Abington Friends School, the Trinitones and Chapel Singers at Trinity College, and USC's Concert Choir. In Baltimore she sang with the TUUC Choir, the Community Chorus of Peabody, and the Patterson Park Community Chorus. Early music, as she puts it, "hugs your insides."

We're a self-funded, genuinely grassroots ensemble – no big budget, no endowment. Our singers pay dues out of pocket, and everything else happens because people chip in. A donation of any size goes directly toward the real costs of making music in Baltimore – and the big three are rehearsal space, concert venues, and sheet music.
At concerts and events we raffle one-of-a-kind framed prints, hand-signed by the whole ensemble. Grab a ticket and you might take one home.

We audition countertenors (altos), tenors, baritones, and basses who love the repertoire and want to sing it well. Rehearsals are warm, standards are high, and the company is excellent.
